Special Flood Report

Greetings fellow members:-

Well here we are in our third flood for 2009 on the Mid North Coast of NSW.

This flood is not as severe as the event of some 6 plus weeks ago however it has still isolated the townships of Bellingen and Dorrigo and the damage further up the NSW coast and lower South East Queensland has been widespread.

Our 70 cm service VK2RMG is still on air and is currently operating on batteries. The letter 'B" is been sent in morse and the output power is lowered to 10 watts to conserve batteries.

When the power to the Dorrigo region is restored the site will revert to max output power.

I have attached to this new update some photos taken earlier this morning in North Bellingen showing the current state of affairs.

Till this flood event concludes  be safe, avoid all travel and do not under any circumstances enter any flood water no matter how shallow it is. Been a member of the RFS I was at a debrief recently and the number of persons that sustained tyre and steering damage to vehicles in water as shallow as 100mm was very high. Flood waters also contain snakes, sewer overflow and other undesirable objects. Four wheel drives were been washed off roads with as little as 300mm of water across the road. !

Always observe all SES and Police Directions.

Till next time,

Be safe.....

Regards,
