Greetings fellow members.
I has
been a busy two weeks !
James
VK2FJAD has been working on getting the CH 3 UHF CB repeater at Point Lookout
back into service.
I have
good news. Following successful discussions with the repeater owner James can
report that the service should be back on air in a few weeks all been
well.
The
owner has been occupied with other work commitments recently and was unable to
do repairs to this service. I have offered along with James to attend on site if
need be with the appropriate test equipment and assist with the restoration of
this excellent repeater. As you can appreciate the access to this site is quite
restricted and it is also a long drive from Bellingen round trip and allowing
time for repairs. It is a full day exercise.
This
service unlike the CH 7 service has a omni directional antenna and provides
coverage into the Bellingen Valley from its strategic high location at Point
Lookout.
The
repeater is correctly licensed and it will remain in service.
While
on the UHF CB repeater topic I can also advise that James has given the UHF
CH4 service a check up and tune and it too is working well. Coverage of this
service is aimed for the coastal strip from Coffs to Urunga along the
highway.
I have
attached some photos from the CH 4 site.
Meanwhile I am investigating the fate of CH 5 UHF CB
Emergency Repeater service at Dorrigo with the view to restoring this
service for the valley coverage along with Dorrigo township. The Channel 5
Service has been off air for 12 months and the license has expired. If the
previous owners no longer wants the equipment I will advise members at the next
group meeting and see what our group would like to do with this service.
The CH 5 repeater was co sited with our 70cm service at Francis Lookout in the
radio room next door to ours.
Till
next time.
